Where’s my Google Traffic?

For the past 3 weeks, I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what happened to the traffic that Google was sending my way. I was getting 20-30 visitors each day from Google and then one day it just stopped. My pages were no longer to be found on the first 5 pages of Google searches for relevant topics. I was #1 when doing a search on my name and after whatever happened happened, I went to page 3 or 4. I searched the web looking for possible causes and found none that pertained to my site. I didn’t violate in any way and was not banned by them.

I checked my robot.txt file for disallow, it wasn’t that. I was linked to JohnChow.com and he was banned, but after removing the link my Google traffic still didn’t come back. I waited and waited, and FINALLY, just yesterday I saw Google again as a referrer in my statistics. (sigh of relief). It’s not much, but thinking about going backwards after all of that work can spoil a persons mood… to say the least.

Now I am ranking #1 for my name once again. If I can only do that for my keywords, I’d be ‘The Man’! For those of you that are here for SEO techniques and tips, hold on.
