Upgrading from PPC-6700 to PPC-6800 (HTC Mogul)

Published by Sean M. Lightfoot on Tagged Reviews

It’s about that time, the HTC Mogul (PPC-6800) is finally here! I’ve had my PPC-6700 for 2 years now and I’m feeling a little behind in the gadget world. There’s something about having the latest gadgets that gets my blood rushing! After having a PDA phone for the past 5 years, it’s hard to get anything less. I’ve been waiting patiently for the next version of the PPC-6700 for a little while now. Here’s a few shots of it:

There are a lot of new features that the HTC Mogul/PPC-6800 has to taunt which includes Windows Mobile 6, 2.0 Megapixel camera with an LED flash, A2DP support, EVDO Rev. 0 (Rev. A update available in the near future), 400 Mhz Qualcomm processor and a 2.8” QVGA resolution display just to name a few.

The HTC Mogul/PPC-6800 is about the same size as the PPC-6700 and no longer has the nubby antenna that its predecessor has. It is a little thinner than the PPC-6700 even with the slide out QWERTY keyboard. The directional pad, roller wheel and extra button throughout the phone will help maneuver through the OS with ease. The HTC Mogul (PPC-6800) is compatible with existing Windows Mobile applications. Below are the specification on the devices.

The asking price for the HTC Mogul/PPC-6800 is $399 with a 2 year contract and $599 for existing customers. Of course, you’ll be able to find it cheaper on eBay. I will really consider upgrading to the upgrading from PPC-6700 to PPC-6800 (HTC Mogul).

I’ve mentioned the pluses that I like about the PPC-6800 (HTC Mogul), there is only one dislike as far as I can see right now. I don’t like that the camera is only 2.0 megapixels. They could have done a little better considering that it’s just slightly better than the 1.3 megapixel on the PPC-6700.

Thanks to Lisa Gade, Editor in Chief and Tong Zhang, Senior Editor at MobileTechReview.com for the first hand information on this device.

I really like that phone. I looked the 6700 up and that one is more than enough for me. I think the Mogul would overwhelm me

I like the idea of the rolling wheel on the side. I have to use the joystick to scroll on the PPC-6700 and its a pain. The extra program storage will come in handy also. I may o a review on the iPhone this week. That’s another awesome phone.
