Marketing The Affiliate Way

I have recently added a new category called “Affiliate Marketing.” In this category, we will discuss the various products and businesses involving affiliates. Here’s a little secret, I market my affiliate links on this blog. Sshhh! Don’t tell anyone!

I want everyone to understand that this blog was created to be informative FIRST, and profitable SECOND. Yes, there are several affiliate links throughout the blog that belong to me. I have to eat and pay my bills somehow, or would you prefer me to starve? Just kidding, my menu is not dependent on this blog. When I created Sean’s View I decided that I would take the approach of giving my readers all of the information that I possibly could for FREE and then pray, that you wonderful people would be kind enough to purchase your products through me.

Yes, I would love to make $150,000 a month by monetizing my blog, but that is not my goal. You have to love what you and if you perfect it, then it will be an inevitability. When I blog hop, I read the authors articles, trying to decipher their drive behind writing what they do. And when you look for the clues, it’s not hard to tell if a person does it for the money, or simply for the love of writing.

I think the bloggers that have a passion for what they do, have the hardest time at Affiliate Marketing. It’s one thing to post some adsense code on your site and hope for clicks, but it’s a total different animal to TRY to sell to your readers. Those of us that love writing, cringe when attaching affiliate links to our work and the only way that we’ve come up with to simplify us feeding it, and you swallowing it, is to do product reviews.

Product reviews can backfire if not done with the best interest of your readers. It is imperative that you do an HONEST review. I can not stress this enough. Your readers can see right through the fluff and hype. Try out the product yourself and just parlay your take on the product to your readers. If it’s a sorry product that has a high payout, let your readers know. The experienced AMs will review the products sales page and if they feel that it can be a top producer, they will still buy it and become and affiliate.

Everyone that visits this site has one thing in common. We all are striving to have the freedom of making our livings in our underwear. Within the confines of your home that it. Get your mind out of the gutter! There are hundreds of ways to accomplish that. And I have to admit, affiliate marketing is one of the most rewarding.

You get to call the shots whenever you’re self-employed, but being an affiliate marketer gives an extra added bonus. If set up correctly, your business can pretty much run on auto-pilot. Each product that you sell, once set up, is a cash cow. You get it right and perfect it as best you can and then milk it as long as you can. The secret to success is, not relying on just a few hot-sellers, but to continuously add new products to your portfolio and perfect the marketing methods that you use for them.
