Daddy Does It All

Published by Sean M. Lightfoot on Tagged Ramblings

I just can’t seem to stop trying to do everything myself. I guess I’ve been hit with the “If you want it done right, you’ve gotta do it yourself” syndrome. Whether it’s remodeling my house or building a website, I have to do it myself. There is one thing that I’m learning through all of this. It’s not always fun! I work from home to have the time for the extra curricular activities around the house, but ‘Good Googlie Moo!’

When is enough, enough? My wife thinks I’m crazy, because every time something breaks I go out and by a “For Dummies” book on whatever it is I’m trying to fix. We pay for a Home warranty service, but hardly ever use it. If it’s not electrical or something with the A/C…Daddy Do It All to the rescue! Wait! I take that back, once I changed the entire A/C system in my 1997 Ford Expedition. I saved $1000 bucks on that job. And you’ve guessed it, I ran right to the auto parts store to get a book on how to do it. The good part is, thanks to the internet, I don’t need to buy many books anymore. Now I just use up all the printer toner, printing all of the information that I need.

I’m trying my best guys! Really! I let my wife call the painters to paint the inside of our house, but they did such a terrible job that I ended up doing it over any way. I don’t think she would have such a problem with me trying to do everything myself if I managed to finish my projects in a timely manner. I start a project and before I’m done with it I get bored and go start something else. I think I was born with it. Just might explain why I couldn’t keep a girlfriend until I met my wife. It’s something new with her everyday, so there’s no way that I could lose interest. Shhhh! Don’t tell her I said that! I don’t think that there is much that I can’t do. If I can’t do it, I will learn to do it. Like they say, “Don’t knock it till you try it!” Yes I have learned many skills over the years, and most of them I’ve used only once. I know for sure that I’ve saved several thousands of dollars by doing the tasks myself. I just don’t feel right unless I’m learning something new.
